When it comes to floors, few details transform a home quite like timber. The tone, pattern, and finish you choose will completely shape how a space feels — grounding the design and connecting every material that follows.

There are so many beautiful options. French parquet adds timeless elegance and structure, while wide oak planks bring warmth and simplicity to modern interiors. Ash feels soft and contemporary, walnut adds depth and richness, and pine has that lived-in, organic charm that works perfectly in relaxed spaces.

If you’re not lucky enough to have original floors to restore, there are excellent alternatives that still celebrate the natural grain of wood. Products I highly recommend is Osmo or Bona — a durable, matte finish that enhances the wood’s natural texture and brings a soft, understated sheen. It’s easy to maintain, sustainable, and creates that tactile, honest surface I love.

When designing with wood floors, think about balance — pair warm tones with neutral walls and natural fibres like linen and wool, or contrast cooler woods with soft clay and stone hues. The goal is always the same: to create flow, warmth, and timeless character from the ground up.

Which timber would you choose for your home? 🪵✨
